Family, Life, Care
We provide palliative care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Our holistic approach to care enables us to support the whole family, allowing parents to be ‘Mum and Dad’ rather than full-time carers.
- We offer support for children from birth to age 18.
- All our hospice care is free for families
- Children can be referred from anywhere in Ireland
- We are piloting a LauraLynn@HOME programme in Dublin North-East and Dublin Mid-Leinster Regions, to provide hospice care for children in the comfort of their own home.
Our children’s palliative care is delivered through our Multi-disciplinary Team. We work in partnership with the child’s primary care team with a shared goal of ensuring high quality Respite, Crisis, Transitional and End-of-life care, between Hospital, Hospice and Home.
Additionally, we provide Residential Care for young adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. In line with national policy, we no longer accept referrals for this service but are committed to taking care of our young people who have been in our care since childhood.
Working with other organisations to improve the quality of children’s palliative care, we recently collaborated in the hosting of Ireland’s first Conference on Children’s Palliative Care, www.irishcpcconf.ie. This conference reflected a range of expertise and international approaches to caring for children and families. Recognising that all organisations working together is the best way of achieving excellence in Children’s Palliative Care in Ireland.
In striving for excellence in the provision of children’s palliative care, LauraLynn has a recently established Clinical Education & Research Department, whose remit is to provide a range of educational programmes and initiatives for healthcare professionals and others interested in improving quality of care.
