Our Board’s key purpose is to ensure that the Service and all of its entities are led, managed and controlled in a business like manner, yet understanding the complexities of the environment in which healthcare operates.  Our Board is responsible for setting the direction of the Service and ensuring that our strategy is achieved in accordance with best practice and national policy.  Our Board members act in a voluntary capacity in their roles as board members.

    Niall McHugh is a Chartered Accountant and managing partner of BMOL Partners, an accountancy practice which he founded in 1993 which operates in Ireland and the UK.  Niall deals with the commercial investment activities of the practice. Niall joined the Board of LauraLynn in 2013 and is the Chair of the Finance and Operations Committee.

    David Andrews is a principal of Lioncourt Investments Ltd. and a director of several companies, including Valeo Foods, USIT, Lioncourt Homes Ltd. and Elysian Collection GmbH. David is a chartered accountant and has held a variety of senior positions at Bank of Ireland, Woodchester Investments and AIB.  He joined the Board in 2009 and was appointed Chairman in 2012.

    Frances Fletcher is a retired public servant and a director of a number of not for profit organisations. Frances worked in the Department of Health in a number of areas including human relations, international division – working with the EU, UN, WHO and in the area of disability policy, service development, funding and legislation. She joined the Board of LauraLynn in 2010.

    Angie Kinane is a Partner & Director of Q4 Public Relations. She is an experienced corporate and public affairs practitioner providing counsel and guidance to multinational and private companies, public bodies, representative organisations and non for profits.  A former member of the Reader’s Advisory Group of the National Library of Ireland she is a member of the Institute of Directors and of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland. She joined the Board of LauraLynn in January 2015.

    Denise McDonald is a consultant in the National Children’s Hospital Tallaght since 2005.  She specialises in paediatric neurodisability with a particular interest in spasticity management and the management of children with complex medical needs.  Denise works in Tallaght hospital, Enable Ireland Tallaght and the specialist motor management service in Kildare.  She has a commitment to general paediatrics in Tallaght hospital and extensive experience in the assessment and management of child protection concerns.  Denise joined the Board in June 2016.

    Tony McPoland worked for twenty five years in the financial services industry, and served ten years on the Board of Directors of LBBW Bank with executive responsibility for Finance, Operations, Risk and IT. He has become a professional independent Director and sits on the Boards of eleven companies including a regulated asset manager, a number of regulated funds, SME companies and non-profit organisations. He is Chairman of five of these Boards.  He is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland. He also completed the Advanced Management Programme in INSEAD, and The Institute of Director’s Diploma and Certificate in Company Direction. He joined the Board of LauraLynn in 2015.

    Michael O’Donoghue recently retired having practised as a Barrister for a number of years. Michael spent most of his career in the Civil Service and served at senior level in the Houses of the Oireachtas and the Department of Defence. He has acted as a volunteer with FLAC  for almost 25 years.  Michael joined the Board of LauraLynn in 2009 and is Chair of the Research Ethics Committee.

    Ann O’Driscoll is a partner with the law firm of DACBeachchroft Dublin Solicitors where she heads up their healthcare and clinical risk advisory team. Formerly a nurse and midwife, Ann has specialised in  defending healthcare professionals against medical malpractice claims.  An integral part of her work involves advising healthcare organisations on the management of service user complaints, the promotion of openness and accountability and in the setting up of risk management and clinical governance programmes.

    Nicholas Quigley is a Director of HKC Limited, an Irish company manufacturing electronic security equipment.  Previously he held the position of CEO at PhoneWatch and qualified as an accountant.  His daughter Christine, who sadly passed away in 2011, was a resident of the Children’s Sunshine Home for over 10 years.  He joined the Board of LauraLynn in September 2013.
