Topics include: Diagnosing death, communication issues in the end of life phase, spirituality, practical issues, parent and professional perspective, symptom management, environment and bereavement support.
Considering Syringe Drivers in Children’s Palliative Care

26th Sept 2013 (09.00-13.00) Fee €45
Topics include: Principles in pain assessment for children with palliative care needs, drugs used, their interactions, side effects, recommended dosages, understand the practical use of the syringe driver

Topics include: Ethical issues in children’s palliative care, view from the sidelines – a parent’s perspective, honesty and truth telling, advanced care planning, understanding the decision making theory in a healthcare context, working with families.

Topics include: Types of feeding tubes, rationale for enteral feeding in children’s palliative care, care of tubes, stoma care, the nurse’s role in artificial feeding in family centred dynamics, managing complications, trouble-shooting, and dietary requirements.
