When a child has a life-limiting condition, many parents take on the role of primary carer and prefer where possible, to care for their child at home. Ideally families should be offered a range of regular and reliable respite, both in the home and away from home.
Unfortunately, accessing care at home in Ireland can be challenging. At LauraLynn we are now piloting a programme which will bring children’s hospice care into the family home.
What is LauraLynn@Home?
Officially launched in June 2014 LauraLynn@HOME aims to deliver Respite, Transitional, Crisis and End-of-life care support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families in the family home. This hands on care will be provided by a team of experienced children’s nurses and healthcare assistants.
LauraLynn@HOME is piloted in two locations:
- Dublin Mid-Leinster
- Dublin North-East
