Our Early Start Baby & Toddler Programme
is for families with babies and toddlers who have complex healthcare needs.
Many parents, when their child has been discharged home from hospital, find themselves completely overwhelmed. Very often, they are unsure of what to do or how to cope with multiple aspects of their child’s condition or disability. Our Multidisciplinary Team (including paediatrician, physiotherapists, occupational therapist, psychologist, dietitian, clinical nurse manager, play specialist and music therapist) will help to alleviate some of these concerns during this programme by:
- Bringing parents together in a safe space where they can meet other families experiencing similar issues
- Fostering a supportive environment to share experiences and learn from each other. Sometimes the most practical and beneficial advice does not come from medical professionals, but rather from others who are living through similar circumstances
- Facilitating a networking forum for parents, with support from the clinical and nursing teams
It is hoped that practical information provided will help improve parents’ confidence and skills in caring for their child. It will provide a lifeline for parents who find themselves at their most difficult and unimaginable time in their lives.
