Our Nursing Team is dedicated to providing the highest standards of care for every child/young adult and their family within LauraLynn and in the child’s family home.  We work closely with other disciplines including the paediatrician, GP’s and clinical therapists to ensure effective, safe and individualised care for children in our care.

Our Nursing Team:

  • Treats every child as an individual and tailors an Individualised Plan of Care for each child’s/young adult’s needs
  • Works with medical staff and clinical therapists to deliver high quality care
  • Liaises with external agencies and community health care providers as appropriate
  • Participates in Continual Professional Development in Children’s Palliative Care and Disabilites to ensure that national standards of care are continually achieved

Meet some of our Nursing Care Team

  • Director of Nursing

    Anne-Marie Carrolltrained initially as an Intellectual Disability Nurse in the U.K. She also has a Degree in Health Care Management from the Royal College of Surgeons and a Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Quality & Risk from UCD . Anne-Marie has extensive experience in the area of Nursing Management and joined LauraLynn (formerly Children’s Sunshine Home) in 2006 as Director of Nursing.  Anne-Marie has a special interest in the area of development of Paediatric Palliative Care nursing services and supporting families.

  • Clinical Nurse Specialist

    Ann Booth, trained in the Children’s University Hospital, Temple Street and St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin. Ann also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Palliative Care. In addition to working in varying roles in both Ireland and the Middle East, Ann has worked in Paediatric Palliative Care at Rainbow’s Children’s Hospice in the UK. Ann joined LauraLynn in 2007 and has a special interest in supporting children and families and the ongoing development of paediatric palliative care services.

  • Practice Development/Clinical Placement Coordinator

    Niamh McEnerney, trained in CUH and James Connolly Memorial Hospital. She has worked in acute paediatrics in the UK and has cared for children with life-limiting conditions and complex needs. On returning to Ireland she completed her BSc (Hons) in Nursing followed by an MSc(Hons) in Nursing Research at the RCSI.  She joined LauraLynn in 2006 and is a member of the IAPC Research & Education Forum and has an interest in education and training.

  • Care Co-ordinator, Children's Palliative Care Services

    Alison Cashell qualified as a General Nurse in 2004, and continued on to complete her BScN at TCD at this time. Alison also completed a Higher Diploma in Children’s Nursing through Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and UCD in 2008 and has a keen interest in palliative care.  Alison joined LauraLynn in 2014 having previously worked with adults and children with life-limiting conditions with palliative care needs.

  • Care Co-ordinator, Children's Palliative Care Services

    Louise O’Dea trained as R.N.I.D (Registered Nurse in Intellectual Disability) in TCD, and completed Bachelor of Nursing Studies Degree  in DCU (2004). Louise then completed a Post Graduate Higher Diploma in Paediatrics,TCD (2007) and worked in an acute medical, high dependency ward in the National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght, including end-of-life and palliative care for children. Louise joined LauraLynn as CNM1, Disability Services in 2013.

  • Care Co-ordinator, Children's Palliative Care Services

    Divya Smitha Mathew completed a Bachelor of Nursing Studies Degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India and qualified as a Registered Nurse. Divya worked in acute paediatrics in India before joining LauraLynn in 2006 and was appointed CNM1 in 2015.  Divya completed the interdisciplinary modules (level 9) in children’s palliative care from UCD/TCD in 2011 and plans to pursue further studies in this area.

  • Care Co-ordinator, Children's Palliative Care Services

    Aisling Conway qualified as a RGN in 2001 and completed her Higher Dip. in Children’s Nursing and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Nursing Studies. Aisling worked in Tallaght Hospital in boht ICU and on an acute medical ward for toddlers which catered for children with complex needs.  Aisling joined LauraLynn in January 2016, and plans to pursue her studies in the area of children’s palliative care.
