Annual Memorial Service 2018
Each year at LauraLynn we hold our Annual Memorial Service for bereaved families, their relatives and friends. Families from across the country come together to remember their children who have passed on and reflect on their lives while celebrating the time shared with them.
This year’s memorial service saw a large turn-out with 22 bereaved families coming together at our campus here in LauraLynn. Visitors included a number of newly bereaved families attending for the first time while other families continue to return each year, particularly those parents whose children availed of the LauraLynn residential services.
The theme of our service this year was ‘Continuing Bonds’, a bereavement theory of having a relationship with someone who has passed on. This was demonstrated through our specially chosen readings, reflections, symbols and music. The theme was powerful but delicately portrayed by our LauraLynn Social Worker, Rosaleen Maguire, in a keynote reflection.
The LauraLynn Choir joined us on the morning where they sang a beautiful selection of songs. Each year the Choir continue to excel themselves and create a joyous occasion for all in attendance. A special thank you to our visiting recording artist Patricia Bourke who sang a beautiful live version of “Voice of an Angel” creating a poignant moment of reflection for guests.
We are grateful to our residents, staff and volunteers who helped us during the service and behind the scenes in creating this important event.< Back to News
