A Big Thank You – LauraLynn Heroes Ball 2018

May 2018 saw the return of our third annual LauraLynn Heroes Ball to the InterContinental Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin. A night filled with glitz, glamour and fashion, we are delighted that the night was a roaring success! Almost 400 guests attended the gala, including the Heroes Ball corporate sponsors DCC Plc and Marks & Spencer.

Guests on the night enjoyed a delectable four course meal paired with wine from Marks and Spencer while host and MC Miriam O’ Callaghan entertained guests. The night featured our hugely successful auction which was presided over by Barry Murphy and we debuted our ‘Balloon-Pop’ raffle.

Over the course of the evening, tension began to build as our auction began. The room was alight with energy as bids were placed for several prizes listed including a seven-night stay for two at the luxurious Olcote Resort Sri Lanka, a beautiful diamond ring, a seven-night break for 10 at the ‘World’s Best Ski Chalet’ in Zermatt, Switzerland, as well as other prizes including a signed and framed Roy Keane Manchester United football jersey, tickets to the Pro 14 final and a painting by Robert Shaw. The audience watched on in awe, enthralled in the competitive bidding as generous donators outbid one another. In addition to the listed prizes on the night, guests in attendance also donated prizes such as tickets to Ed Sheeran’s and U2’s sold-out Irish gigs, Brian O’ Driscoll’s final Ireland jersey, and a year’s supply of candles, all in the name of LauraLynn. For everyone who donated a prize to our auction, we extend our gratitude and we are delighted the auction was so successful.

In addition to our auction, guests had the opportunity to win first-class prizes through our ‘Balloon-Pop’ raffle including a two-night break at the stunning Glenlo Abbey with dinner and a round of golf, an overnight break at the Westbury Hotel with dinner, a Chanel luxury gift box, tickets to Michael Bublé as well as many other luxury prizes. As guests picked their balloons, the ballroom was awash with colour as over 200 balloons filled the air. A communal ‘pop’ took place which saw all 200 balloons popped at the same time to reveal the winners. Our balloon-pop raised over €10,000 thanks to the kind contribution of our many supporters who donated such fantastic prizes.

Guests were entertained by the Diva Singing Waiters and later that evening ‘Perfect Day’ took to the stage, where the live music kept guests dancing all night long.

The third annual LauraLynn Heroes Ball was a tremendous night enjoyed by all. However, this evening could not have been possible without our many supporters and those who gave so generously on the evening. We want to thank each and every one who so kindly gave their time, support and generous donations. This year we raised a phenomenal sum of €107,500 for LauraLynn and we want to thank everyone who was involved, from our supporters to our volunteers and staff. Thank you. Let’s hope we can make the fourth annual LauraLynn Heroes Ball as much of a success!
