The Winter Olympics will take place in PyeongChang, South Korea in February 2018 and Intel have recently joined the TOP (The Olympic Partner) worldwide sponsorship programme.

To celebrate this new partnership, Intel have been given the opportunity to send 13 of their employees over to the launch, to participate in the Olympic Torch Relay around the cities of Korea.

One of these employees is David Prendergast, a long-term supporter of LauraLynn who has worked tirelessly over the past number of years, raising vital funds and spreading awareness about the work that we do.

After the tragic loss of his daughter Beth, David became passionate about developing Ireland’s first children’s hospice. Upon hearing of Jane McKenna’s plans to build such a hospice, he got in contact and his journey with LauraLynn Children’s Hospice began.

Through his role in Intel, he soon became involved with their Signature Charity Campaign and received incredible support from the company and his colleagues alike, raising funds for LauraLynn through a variety of initiatives and events.

David will travel to South Korea on Saturday November 18th and we are thrilled that his contribution to LauraLynn is being recognised in such a special way. His wife Kim and children Harry and Kate will be there to proudly cheer him on as carries the torch for a quarter of a mile on Friday November 24th – a once in a lifetime experience that they will treasure forever.

We send our very warmest wishes to David and his family for their journey and look forward to getting his updates from South Korea.

Keep an eye on our Twitter feed to see his pictures from the event and hear him tell his beloved Beth’s story here.
