John and Fiona Farrell were devastated when their beloved son Daniel aged just 15 months, died suddenly from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a condition that causes heart failure.
Despite their own terrible loss, they decided to help support other parents. LauraLynn was always very close to Fiona & John’s heart and to date they have raised over €320,000 to enable us provide hospice care to families of children with life-limiting conditions.
Raising vital funds for LauraLynn in memory of Daniel
This remarkable achievement could not have been made possible without the support of their many friends and family. Two of John’s work colleagues embarked on the Daniel’s Challenge which involved completing a stage of the Tour de France, running the Cork Marathon and culminated in climbing to the top of Kilimanjaro. What an incredible feat!
In 2008, Fiona’s work colleagues and school pals took part in the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon. That same year, they were contacted prior to Christmas by a parent in their local community who offered to host a Christmas Fair in memory of their little boy. The Daniel’s Heart Christmas Fair was born and has become an annual event in the calendar of the local community with all proceeds donated to LauraLynn.
Daniel’s Heart Christmas Cards
Each year, since Daniel passed, John and Fiona have lovingly created the Daniel’s Heart Christmas Cards which feature the 12 days of Christmas theme. Designers from various Irish advertising agencies have generously given their time and talent to produce a new range of designs each year. All proceeds from the sale of the cards are very generously donated to LauraLynn.
John, Fiona & all the Daniel Heart Supporters are real heroes to us – we are humbled by their continued support.
