How long is the recruitment process?
The process can take three months or more before you start volunteering. This will depend on a number of factors including Garda Vetting and training.
Do all applicants get accepted for volunteering?
Due to high volumes of applications and limited volunteering roles, we are unable to place everyone. This is why it is important that you provide us with as much relevant information as possible in your application form.
Will I be able to volunteer immediately?
No. All volunteers must go through the necessary police checks, references, occupational health and training and this can take some time to complete. It is likely that you will not be able to start volunteering until three months after we receive your application form. However, should you wish to volunteer with fundraising at one of our events, we will usually be able to facilitate this.
Will I get any training?
Yes. In addition to Induction Training there are several mandatory training courses which must be completed including Child Protection, Manual Handling, Infection Control and Fire Awareness. Additional training maybe provided depending on the role undertaken.
I am interested in doing work experience or a student placement. Can you arrange this?
Volunteer Services only organise school work experience and placements. Any clinical work experience queries should be directed to Niamh McEnerney at Niamh@lauralynn.ie
Can I volunteer if I am under 18?
We are currently unable to take anyone under 18 as a volunteer.
