LauraLynn celebrated Children’s Hospice Week by raising awareness and funds for our hospice services. Children’s Hospice Week is the only week in the year dedicated to raising awareness for children’s hospice care in Ireland and LauraLynn set out to break some common misconceptions about children’s hospice and palliative care.
The theme of the campaign this year was ‘Little Moments…Big Impact’ and the campaign gave LauraLynn an opportunity to shine a light on the importance of all of those ‘little moments’ that LauraLynn enable families to enjoy together.
Ahead of the campaign, market research was conducted on behalf of LauraLynn which found that 70% of people do not know that children’s palliative care is not just given at the end of life, and can in fact help children with life-limiting conditions and their families for a number of years, from diagnosis right through to bereavement.
Of those surveyed, two in four (42%), believed that palliative care is only given to children in the last days and weeks of their life with a further 28% unsure.
LauraLynn raised awareness throughout the week and as always, the Irish public got behind the campaign donating to help us do what we do. LauraLynn would like to thank all of our supporters, donors and ambassadors who helped us to spread our message and raise funds across the week.
A special thanks to all the LauraLynn families who shared their stories and experiences across the media during the campaign to help us raise awareness and a big thank you to all of the media platforms who helped us to get our message out there.
LauraLynn CEO, Kerry McLaverty says: "All of us at LauraLynn just want to say a huge thank you to all our supporters and donors for helping us make Children’s Hospice Week 2022 such a success. It’s the only week in the year dedicated to raising awareness and funds for children’s hospice and palliative care in Ireland and it’s an opportunity for LauraLynn to share what we do and why we do it. A special thanks to all the families who shared their experiences and stories the media last week. I also want to thank all of our incredible LauraLynn staff and volunteers who made Children’s Hospice Week so special for our families, creating more ‘little moments’ for those in our community of care’’.
