LauraLynn Publishes Annual Report for 2023

Published: 12 Jun 2024

2023 was marked by significant achievements, growth, and unwavering commitment despite external challenges such as the cost-of-living crisis.

We added more plants to our beautiful outdoor spaces in 2023

We completed our five-year strategic plan (2019-2023), which aimed to make every day better for those in our care. Per the strategic plan we grew our Hospice Community Team in 2023. The Mallow community team expanded its reach to County Limerick, Cork, and Kerry. And we announced a new base in Ballinasloe, Galway, to support families in the Midlands, West, and Northwest.

Our Hospice Community Teams now provide comprehensive support, including clinical care, music therapy, play and family therapy, and bereavement support within local communities. LauraLynn’s reputation as a beacon of excellence in children’s palliative care has grown, with increased integration and collaboration across the Irish healthcare system.

In our Adult Disability Service, Willow View, the Discovery Project concluded, and we recruited a Transforming Lives Coordinator. Referrals to Hazel House's Children’s Disability Respite service increased. The service supports 53 children. A Family Liaison and Respite Coordinator was also added to enhance family engagement.

We made strides in environmental sustainability, investing in energy-efficient systems at LauraLynn House and adding more hybrid electric vehicles. We added more plants to our beautiful outdoor spaces attracting local wildlife and benefitting our service users and their families.

Despite a challenging external environment that included a significant cost-of-living crisis and geopolitical instability, LauraLynn continued to remain in a strong position. With statutory funding in place for our disability service and partial funding for our hospice service, it affords the organisation the stability to focus on what matters most, our service users and their families. Our donors and supporters were incredibly supportive, allowing us to grow our community of care.

To our volunteers, staff, funders, partners, and especially the families we serve—thank you. In 2024, we remain committed to our mission of providing compassionate care and support.
