International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12th, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.
We want to take this time ahead of International Nurses Day to acknowledge our amazing Nursing Team across our Hospice, Regional and Disability Services at LauraLynn.
Commenting on International Nurses Day, Anne-Marie, Director of Nursing at LauraLynn said;
"On this International Nurses Day, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude and admiration to all our wonderful Nurses for your unwavering dedication and compassionate care. Florence Nightingale was an inspiring, courageous woman, who in 1854 (aged 34), led a group of nurses to care for soldiers in the Crimean war, identified the importance of strict hygiene precautions to reduce the spread of infections, and at the age of 40 she established the first nursing training school, now called the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery in King's College London. She advocated that nursing should cater to the whole person, considering not only physical aspects but also mental and emotional well-being. Our wonderful nursing, healthcare assistant and family support team all exemplify this spirit daily providing care and support that is underpinned by our values of Compassion, Collaboration & Excellence to those entrusted in our care and their families. I am eternally proud to be part of our team of 76 nurses, and indeed healthcare assistants (39), family support team members (15) and clinical administrators (5) who all make a difference each day while interfacing with the adults that live in Willow View, children and families accessing Hazel House for respite and children and families accessing LauraLynn services across Ireland."
Wishing our wonderful Nursing team a very Happy International Nurses Day and thank you for all that you do.
