This week, September 12th-18th, is Palliative Care Week and the aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of this kind of care and to encourage the public to become better informed about palliative care and its benefits.
As Ireland’s only Children’s Hospice, LauraLynn has been at the forefront of children’s palliative and hospice care in Ireland for the past 10 years now. At LauraLynn, we understand how palliative care can have a hugely positive impact on the lives of children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Palliative care not only helps the person with a life-limiting condition- meeting their physical and emotional needs...it also helps the quality of life of the family, friends and carers of the person receiving palliative care.
The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Palliative Care, it’s More Than You Think’ and the chosen tagline aims to correct misconceptions that palliative care is only available at End of Life. Palliative care can benefit people at all stages of illness and people of all ages.
Palliative care is about more than physical symptoms, caring for the emotional, social and spiritual needs of the person and those important to them.
