Martin's Story

Published: 22 Nov 2024

Martin had such big, beautiful eyes. And when he smiled, he lit up the room. I made a promise that his light would never go out.

LauraLynn was the only place where Martin could visit Santa as they had the equipment

Christmas was my little boy Martin’s favourite time of the year. We have so many special memories of being together at Christmas in LauraLynn.

They’ve been part of our lives since our precious boy Martin was just three days old.

Sadly, Martin won’t be with us this year.

It’s hard to believe but this will be our third Christmas without him.

Martin meeting Santa

I made a promise to Martin that I would never let his light go out. And every time I share his story or we visit LauraLynn, I feel his light shining even brighter.

By reading this story today you’re helping me keep my promise, thank you.

You see, although Martin’s life was short, it was filled with love, laughter and joy.

We made so many special memories together – thanks to LauraLynn supporters just like you.

That’s why I hope you’ll consider making a donation to LauraLynn. Your gift will help create magical moments and memories for families with seriously ill children. Please send your special Christmas gift today.

Boys loved dressing up in their matching Late Late Show pyjamas

Martin was non-verbal, needed intensive nursing care and was regularly in- and-out of hospital. But none of this stopped Martin making the most of his life – and he absolutely adored spending time at LauraLynn.

We knew this because Martin’s eyes lit up every time we arrived there. And at Christmas time, Martin loved the lights, the music, and all the brilliant sensory toys and activities that LauraLynn organised for him.

Will you give another family the chance to make their own treasured memories?

And LauraLynn made sure Martin’s little brother Patrick felt part of things, too. They always found time for a chat, or playing a little game, and helping the boys write their letters to Santa together at Christmas. They were really special times for us as a family.

Your support is so important.

There are so many families out there who still need LauraLynn’s support. They help families make the most of the time they have left with their children.

And Christmas for these families won’t be the same without you. It’s your kindness that makes the LauraLynn magic happen.

So please, if you can, will you send a Christmas gift and help another family make memories to treasure this year at LauraLynn?

Without your support, families like ours will miss out on all the activities that the caring and dedicated LauraLynn Team organise each Christmas.

Christmas won’t be the same.

Christmas will never be the same for any of us now that Martin is gone. And for families who still need LauraLynn, Christmas won’t be the same without your support. So please send a Christmas gift as soon as you can.

Your gift could help a family like mine enjoy magic moments and make special memories with their child – a child who will not be around forever.

Thank you for reading my story today. Your kindness will make a difference in the lives of these families.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas,

Sarah
