LauraLynn is inviting applications from qualified candidates for a PhD/MD Scholarship in Children’s Palliative Care as The McKenna Scholarship opens for applications. This exciting scholarship will be proudly funded by LauraLynn.
The McKenna Scholarship is named in honour of Jane and Brendan McKenna, who founded LauraLynn following the tragic death of their two daughters Laura and Lynn. Building research capability through innovation and collaboration, both nationally and internationally is a key strategic driver of LauraLynn's strategic plan. The McKenna Scholarship aims to support the expansion of the knowledge base of Children’s Palliative Care.
The aim of the McKenna Scholarship is to support a suitably qualified MD or PhD candidate to pursue full-time research in the area of Children’s Palliative Care.
The scholarship will provide funding for a student undertaking a post graduate degree (MDorPhD) in the area of children’s palliative care. Funding will include an annual tax-free stipend of €18,500, a contribution to fees of €6,000 per annum and €2,000 per year to fund research-related expenses.
The expectation is that the funding will commence in October 2022 and continue for 2 years for an MD or 3 years for a PhD. However, the commencement of funding maybe deferred up until and no later than January 2023. Students in their first year of a MD or PhD project (i.e. registered as a MD/PhD candidate in 2021) are also eligible to apply, with funding applied prospectively.
All applications need to be submitted by email to scholarship@lauralynn.ie by Friday, 20th June 2022. For more information on the application requirements, please visit lauralynn.ie/mckenna-scholarship.
A webinar will take place in early May 2022 to answer applicants’ questions. To register for further details, please send contact details to scholarship@lauralynn.ie
